The Star Wars #1 out of 8

The Star Wars Comic Book Cover First IssueYou might have heard lately about the newest Star Wars comic series released this Wednesday entitled "The Star Wars." Yes, you read right. This comic is an eight issue run based off of the first draft George Lucas wrote of Star Wars back in 1974.

First of all, Luke Skywalker is a middle aged general of Aquilae's army, the last independent system in the Empire still harboring the outlawed Jedi. We also meet Darth Vader, who is not in a helmet! Last but not least of the Star Wars cast we are familiar with is Princess Leia, who we see sent off to college by her father, the king of Aquilae.

There are other characters new to us as well - Kane Starkiller and his son Annikin. Kane is an old Jedi friend of Luke's and Annikin is a teenage boy who kind of looks like a mix between Jason Mewes and Aaron Paul. Kane and Annikin seek refuge in Aquilae as well as making a huge request from Luke.

I'm really excited to see where this series goes. So far it's been fun trying to imagine what life would be like if George Lucas had gone with his original script. I'm also excited to see how Han Solo will be depicted like a shady lizard man.

This was a big day for comic releases, so don't freak out if that's all I write about for awhile.
